It's always the little things.....

Of rectangluar form, moulded and underpainted large polychrome Qajar tile, North Iran early 19th century with a mounted youth on a white charger, the ground scattered with small buildings and floral sprays, raised upper frieze of interlaced pink arabesque emanating from a central palmette. Mounted in later frame sadly at some part in its history this tile has been damaged and shows signs of losses/an early repair yet it is still beautiful, still desirable and still very collectable. The tile measures 15 x 11 inches or 28 x 38 cms overall frame 17 z 20 inches. At Griffin Mill this week 🌹

A very different kind of Easter break this. With number 4 revision locked as she faces her dreaded finals next month and the wonderful British weather set to rain, rain and yet more rain - a window then to start sorting through an assortment eclectic artworks we picked up last week. These paintings are a small selection from a collection of close to a thousand (I jest not) pieces which form a collection spanning 60 years. From the estate of a now departed art dealer - some are instantly recognisable, some much less so and needing extensive research. Some needing light cleaning/restoration others now little more than tattered canvas. Representing every genre, spanning 300 years and with artists from almost every nation - what better way to while wet spring days.
