Beautiful 19th C., painted and parcel gilt swept front chest with carved face.
Wonderful quality Classical revival, swept front, chest of drawers constructed in Oak with the original painted and parcel gilt finish.
The front of the chest is festooned with beautifully carved garlands, bows and a central basket of flowers. All the carving and metal fittings, including the three keys, are highlighted in gold gilt as are the edge mouldings and borders.
The drawers have small ring handles and the heads of the keys have a matching classical gilt finished design.
The craftsmanship and condition is of such quality and high standard, and the oak is fine quality, even the insides of the drawers are sealed in clear lacquer.
French in style but possibly English and could be earlier than suggested. The drawers have English locks and appear original, or certainly period, as are the keys; also the screws appear hand made.
The Size is 109 cm long, standing 83 cm high with a depth of 52 cm .
