Very rare agricultural item in the form of this Pony sized plough.
Designed with the Smallholder, or small market gardener, in mind, requiring only a small horse or a pair of sturdy ponies to draw it, this plough is a rarity indeed.
The shape of the mouldboard tells me that this would have, most likely, been used in a small market garden capacity with a good depth of light soil.
The model is “The Landmark” and it is manufactured by Lloyds and Co Ltd., of Letchworth. This company was formed is 1878 and is still in existence as a specialist maker of mowers and turf care equipment.
A good sized country house might also have made good use of a plough this size for vegetable production.
A great item to use as intended or for show or demonstration purposes by vintage and historical enthusiasts.
Equally ideal for use as a piece of garden sculpture., especially is you come from Letchworth!
