Antique Georgian weather vane of large size.
Blacksmith made in heavy wrought iron with a copper flag or pennant shaped pointer which still has remnants of the original gilt finish.
The word "vane" derives from an old English word "fana" meaning flag.
The copper pointer is 60 cm long.
The width across the compass point indicators is 114 cm.
The whole weather vane stands 2 metres above the roof or whatever structure it is sited upon.
This is a very impressive weather vane!, handsome without being ostentatious!
