Earthy yet elegant. broad of beam (they built them for comfort back then) and with straw stuffed seat pads to even out any sagging (old aristocracy were the prize architect’s of make do and mend – nothing wasted, everything valued, anything fixed where it could). These chairs have been loved and used daily for centuries – genuine family pieces which tell their very own story – the aged leather upholstery worn smooth and glowing from many, many years of being buffed by generations of bottoms – proof positive that antiques need not be grand to be a wee bit glorious.
