Going through changes… Nearly three centuries in one Welsh vernacular farmhouse oak dresser. It has been higher, it has been lower, it didn’t have a back, then it did, then those it did have were changed yet again. A later pot board, to cover rear leg repairs and at least 3 handle changes in its lifetime – basically any of the bits that rotted or fell off over the years have been repaired/replaced – not because of any great financial worth (far from it) but because no matter how basic, how humble this tiny home made cottage dresser was – it mattered. Through generations it has travelled throughout Wales yet always staying within one family – perhaps because it was useful, perhaps the family were very sentimental or simply because it was an important part of one families history – it’s own folklore – it’s own very rich heritage.
